Valentine's Day in Sydney can't be beat!

Valentine's Day in Sydney can't be beat!

If you have a special someone in your life, Valentine’s Day is a holiday worth looking forward to. But you know, even if you happen to be single at the time and would rather celebrate the strong female relationships in your life – aka, Galentine’s Day – you can still enjoy yourself. Or even better yet, just spend the day pampering the most important person in your life – you, of course.

No matter which category you fall in on February 14, there is one thing everyone can enjoy – the city of Sydney!

Here is a step-by-step guide on how you can spend a romantic Valentine’s Day (and likely extended holiday as well) in the land Down Under.

Step 1. Book a suite at The Macleay Hotel

You need an amazing place to stay to begin with. This should be a room that overlooks the harbour, with a big squishy bed and enough amenities that you can stay holed up for days should you want to. Fortunately, all this and more can be found right here in our dear Macleay Hotel. There are suites for couples and for singles, so we have no doubt you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for.

Step 2. Indulge in some chocolate

Sydney has some amazing sweet spots all around the city. Begin by exploring Sydney’s tastiest exhibit, Sweet Addiction. Located in the Royal Botanic Garden, this tour brings chocolate lovers through the cycle of how chocolate is made. You’ll journey through the South American rainforest, chocolate plantations and a Lindt chocolate mill. Once you’re done with the tour, don’t forget, you are in one of the most beautiful gardens in the city! Take a stroll through the roses (but try to refrain from picking them) and enjoy the view of the city from a grassy knoll.

Step 3. Take a hot air balloon ride

Because hot air balloons aren’t really common sight, a ride in one is an incredibly romantic activity. Once you’re cruising around, it doesn’t matter if you are with someone or alone, the views will absolutely take your breath away. Toast a glass of champagne just take it all in. If you’re looking for a really special trip, head to Sydney’s wine country and check out the rides above Hunter Valley. This way you can get a view of the vineyards, and even have a glass or two before your ride to calm the nerves of those who might be a little hesitant about the height.

Step 4. Have a romantic dinner overlooking the harbour

Now, there are a number of ways you could go about having a romantic meal. The harbour is littered with restaurants for you to try – you just have to make sure you get that reservation early enough! Another option is to take to the waters and schedule a dinner cruise. Trust us, the soft starlight and glow from the city makes for the perfect mood lighting. But if this still doesn’t take your fancy, set up a private picnic on Bondi Beach or back in the Botanic Garden.

Once you’ve completed all these activities, it’s time to head back to your suite at The Macleay Hotel and hunker down for a romantic evening. We can help you set up any surprises you want waiting in your suite for your return if you’d like. Just ask! Contact us today to book your suite and plot your surprise!
