19/01/2017 Here is a list of essential items that you need to pack for your trip to Sydney.
Okay, so your holiday is planned. You've booked the flights, locked in accommodation at The Macleay Hotel and you've patiently waited for the day to come.
And it's finally here.
In 24 sweet hours, you'll be in glorious Sydney, Australia. You can practically feel the yourself de-stressing, that is, until you remember you still need to pack! Don't panic, we'll help you get all the essentials in your bag to make the most of your trip.
1. Your travel documents
You won't get far if you don't have your passport and visa! Before you leave, triple check that you have these, as they're the only way you're going to get in and out of the country without serious hassle. It might even be beneficial for you to grab a folder to keep everything in one place, or pick up a passport case. If you plan on going out on the town, you'll probably have to bring your passport with you – international identification cards aren't always accepted at restaurants and bars!

2. Sunscreen
Be sure to pack your own sunscreen – it gets hot down under and the sun is probably much stronger than you're used to. For the sake of your trip, you won't want to forget to apply and reapply your sunscreen. If you have it on hand before you leave, you'll be able to take on the city the second you put your bags down. Don't forget to purchase a travel size bottle so you can stay safe even when you're on the go.
3. Underwear
This isn't specific to Sydney, but they are among the most forgotten items to pack. With all the excitement of packing your favourite outfits, underwear somehow always gets left behind at home. Pack this, and a couple of bathing suits first thing so you don't have to dash out to the shops once your plane has landed.
4. Appropriate electronic converters or adapters
Your electronics are crucial for documentation and direction on your trip, so don't let them go dead! Pick up a converter for Australia voltage (230V 50Hz), as well as an adapter. These will help convert the power for phones, laptops and cameras, but you should leave higher voltage items, like hair dryers or straighteners at home as these just won't work!
5. Thongs
No, we're not bringing up underwear again – thongs is Aussie slang for sandals! There are tons of beaches just minutes away from your stay at The Macleay Hotel, and even though you'll likely do lots of walking around town, you're going to want some flip flops for the beach.
