Getting stuck in the same old same old routine? Or maybe you're trying to impress a first date with something different? We can help! Sydney has so much to offer beyond its better known attractions like walking the Harbour Bridge or posing for a picture with a koala bear.

If you really want to see a different side of Sydney, grab your date and check out these unusual ideas!

Dining in the dark with Pitch Black

A post shared by Pitch Black (@pitchblackbars) on

Usually, the whole point of a dinner date is to gaze over the table at your partner, getting to know them and their expressions a little bit better – as well as steal their food, of course. But how can you do that when you dine in the dark?

Well, believe it or not, you might get even closer with your partner in the full-on sensory experience, Pitch Black. The dining experience consists of a three course meal complete with wine. It's sole focus is to take you out of your comfort zone and let your other sense take over. Sounds cool right? The only caveat is that you won't be able to upload pictures of the meal to your Instagram. Sorry!

Axe throwing at Maniax

Have you ever thrown an axe before? Now that we ask, do you want to try? No doubt you do! Maniax lets you grab an axe and chuck it at a wall. It's one of the more unique activities you can do in St Peters – and who knows, maybe your date will end up being a pro! Although, we're not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing …

Wendy's Secret Garden

You know all about Sydney's Royal Botanical Gardens, so why not take your date to a more secret location? Wendy's Secret Garden in Lavender Bay is a breath of fresh air for those who get tired of the hustle and bustle of the CBD. Make it a perfectly quaint trip by bringing along a picnic lunch (or just order some UberEats).

Dinner at Luna Park

Okay, we know what you're thinking, dinner at Luna Park doesn't sound all that outrageous, or that fun. But hear us out – you can have dinner on the ferris wheel. How about that for an unusual idea? But make sure you don't disappoint your date – you can only have dinner on Sundays between October and March. It's a special experience worth looking into well in advance, if you ask us.

At the end of the evening, however, take it back to the normal, and treat your significant other to a romantic evening in a Macleay Hotel suite overlooking the twinkling cityscape. Contact us to book a room today.
