St Vincent’s Hospital is a community-focused organization, being an established and essential part of Sydney’s Eastern suburbs neighborhood. In 2007 the hospital celebrated its 150th anniversary. This public hospital provides a world-class facilities, service and expertise in all medical areas, while providing educational opportunities to medical students. The hospital is affiliated with the University of New South Wales Medical School. St Vincent’s Hospital has achieved an international reputation for encouraging and practicing innovation in medicine, and is considered a centre of excellence for clinical care, teaching, research and medical leadership.
Located in Darlinghurst – an inner city suburb of Sydney, the St. Vincent’s Hospital is part of the public health care system of NSW. It was originally established by the Sisters of Charity trust, and still remains under its auspice. Five Irish sisters who were members of the Sisters of Charity trust and migrated to Sydney contributed to building the hospital with the intention of helping the poor and disadvantaged community. Initially, the hospital was in the Potts Point suburb. In 1870, the establishment was moved to its current location in the Victoria St, Darlinghurst. Built in 1921 by the designers Wardell and Denning, the main hospital building in the Victoria Street is still in operation.
At present, the hospital is a key teaching and training facility in Sydney. It offers a wide range of medical and clinical experience to medical and nursing student. The hospital was initially affiliated with the University of Sydney. In 1938 when it changed its affiliation to the University of New South Wales. The hospital has also been at the forefront of medical innovation in areas such as lung, heart and bone marrow transplantation.

It will turn slightly to the right to reach the Darlinghurst road. Continue on the Darlinghurst road to get to Victoria St and turn left to get to the hospital.
