Named after Lieutenant General Ralph Darling, the Governor of NSW (1825-1831), the Darling Harbour was initially a part of Sydney's commercial port. In mid 1980's, the actual port was moved elsewhere, the Darling Harbour is dedicated solely for entertainment and tourism. The Sydney Convention and Exhibition Center, located inside the Darling Harbour served as one of the locations for 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Sitting at a harbour setting with a water-front, the Darling Harbour houses several must-see attractions in the city, including the Sydney Aquarium, Sydney Maritime Museum, Star City Casino, Chinese Garden, Imax Theatre and the Sydney Wildlife World. There are also a number of restaurants and hotels where you can sit down for a delicious meal belonging to any culinary culture of the world. For shopaholics, there are also a number of designer department stores and budget shopping centers. If you are there at the right time, you will also get the opportunity to attend a number of national and international exhibitions, hosted at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Center.
